YOUSTAR is a two-year ERASMUS+ project, which focuses on theater and performing arts as tools for encouraging the social inclusion of young people, based on innovative theater methods, developed in other EU-funded projects.
It has 7 partners, mostly theater associations, from Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Sweden, Spain, Serbia and Slovenia.
The project includes creating a methodological framework, manuals and recommendations for practitioners and youth workers to use the YO.US.TAR method and combining it with other best practices from partner countries to facilitate the social inclusion of marginalized youth and empower youth workers with new professional tools.
The project is guided by the principle that innovative training spaces are part of broad integration strategies, which can actively help solve the problem of marginalization and support the social inclusion of young people across Europe.
The project has three general goals:
- To increase the general inclusion of young people through theater, bringing on European values of acceptance of diversity and tolerance, and the promotion of intercultural dialogue
- To provide space for young people, where they can practice self-awareness and self-confidence in a new and stimulating environment
- Offer staff working with young people in theater and NGOs a tool that will enable a deeper understanding of their clients and increase their professional skills in art and social inclusion.
