Association Kulturanova from Novi Sad has in 2011 started a long-term project “Gradionica”. As part of this project numerous dancing performances have been organized. Drawing most attention was the “Revolution is my favorite game” held in the main Hall of the Novi Sad Train Station, as well as the performance of the choreograph Sybrig Dokter titled “Home: Bricks vs. Suitcase” which was realized in SKC Fabrika, in cooperation with the Student’s Culture Centre and dance production LAVA from Sweden.
The idea behind this project and performances that are a part of it is to revitalize, that is breathe life to forgotten and abandoned buildings, as well as those monumental which have been denied the recognition of the contribution they represent to our city. The goal is to actualize the problem of lack of public space (above all for the needs of artistic production) on the one hand, and the neglect of city officials of abandoned spaces on the other. Also, the goal is to attract a great number of choreographs and artists who would through their work in workshops contribute to the revitalization of the city and which would through art challenge to a duel the hibernated spirit of these spaces.
The project is backed by the Austrian Culture Forum, Pro Helvetie, the Swedish Institute and the Fullbright program.
