Kulturanova is preparing a new project in collaboration with Playful Arts Festival from the Netherlands.
Playful Arts Festival takes place in the historic, picturesque town of ’s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands, during which the town is turned into a playground for people of all ages. This contemporary art event presents games, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and discussions about playful arts.
The Festival is a place where international artists, designers, curators, performers, and the general public come together for four days in June to explore the points where art, play, and social interaction meet and overlap.
Kulturanova and Playful Arts Festival invite artists and others to submit projects in two different categories: Urban Game and Games in the Dark.
Urban Game
We invite game designer, artists, and other to submit games on the topic of urban games, which could be played in the city streets, or interactive works that would stimulate social interaction among people in the street. We are interested in all game types, from pop-up games to field games, and games of observation. Games and artworks should be performed during the day, for a few days.
Games in the Dark
We are looking for games and playful experiences that enable people to play in the evening, either inside or outside. We are interested in games and experiences that are fun for both players and observers, as well as those who play with light and darkness. Gadgets might include flashlights, remote controllers, fire sticks, and the like.
The contest winners will have the opportunity to present their work in November 2015 in the Netherlands, when they will be able to meet fellow artists from this country. Ten works are to be selected, depending on the number of applications. After that, in June 2016, two most successful works will be presented at Playful Arts Festival in the Netherlands. The plan also includes the first edition of Playful Arts Festival in Novi Sad in November 2016.
