The fifth Takt Festival will take place on September 17-18, in Šećer & Soul cafe in Novi Sad. We would like to remind musicians that the applications for this year’s festival are open until September 10.
The jury of the festival, which promotes original, acoustic music written and performed by young musicians and bands, consists of Jovan Matić (Del Arno Band), Slavko Matić (Zbogom Brus Li from Novi Sad), as well as last year’s winner, Bogdan Spasić. We decided to use this opportunity to talk to Slavko Matić, ask him about what he thinks of the festival, and hear the message this well-known musician from Novi Sad is sending to his young fellow artists.
Why do you think young musicians should apply?
Musicians should apply because the festival format is unique, and by this I mean acoustic. This format is rare among festivals and is a demanding but useful step and a breakthrough in building the authenticity of every musician enthusiast or even a professional. This is where not only mistakes but also real value is noticed more easily. Triviality fails to take root while brilliance flourishes.
Why would you say that Takt Festival is different from other music events and festivals?
The festival is unique by its unpretentious approach and the intimate relationship between the participants and the audience, even the jury. It is not a festival that is loud, but it is one that is pretty straightforward. And prizes are there to make the festival endowed and proud.
What advice would you give to young people who are only starting to pave their way in the music scene?
Young artists coming from the world of music should be uncompromising and cautious at the same time.
Young musician, you should know: not trusting yourself is a tale of woe. And if turbo-folk is your only thrill, your life is no more than a bitter pill.
Zbogom Brus Li, a band founded in 1992, has been creating a unique punk-ethno sound and amazing, positive energy on the stage with every performance! They describe their one-of-a-kind style as panburaški (a mixture of punk and traditional tamburitza music), as it continues to fascinate audiences with its original fusion of music genres.
We are excited about the fifth Takt taking place on September 17-18, and meeting this year’s participants and fantastic members of the jury.
See you at #TaktFest!
