The first call for the composition of the WBYO Accelerando project has been opened, in which the Kulturanova Association participates as a partner organization.
The goal of the Western Balkan Youth Orchestra (WBYO) is to create a long-term platform for young composers from the Western Balkan region during the WBYO Accelerando project and to promote a unique creative musical exchange between the audience, composers and performers.
Led by the WBYO artistic team (artistic director, orchestra mentors and jury members), the intention of the first WBYO composition competition is to provide an opportunity to create new works for symphony orchestra based on the diversity of folk dances.
In addition, the invitation offers the possibility of performing award-winning works during the summer concert tour (Western Balkans Go Dance) throughout the Western Balkans, thereby gaining a new perspective for one's own work.
The invitation is addressed to young composers aged 18 to 36 to compose/arrange pieces for a large symphony orchestra based on the folk dances of the Western Balkans and in this way reach a new audience through original concert formats and WBYO programs.
The application for the competition for the selection of the composition is filled out in English. On the project's official website, you can find all the necessary application information (general regulations, guidelines) under the Open Calls and How to Apply sections.
Applications will only be accepted electronically (in PDF format) and should be sent by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
