Association Kulturanova has since 2013 actively taken part in and organized the project EXCEPT – Exchange of Community Based Cultural Practices, which is supported by the European Commission and includes six countries: Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Serbia and Hungary. We started the project by introducing ourselves to the practices of the partner organizations, after which all partner countries worked on their own play productions which were later successfully realized.
Based on the text “Gulliver in Kazohinia” a name-sake play was created. This play was performed in Serbia over a dozen times, primarily speaking to children from socially endangered groups and with that, we tried to instigate a discussion on the subject of what kind of society we want to live in.
In the next part of the project we trained social workers on how to implement theatre techniques in their work with children, afterward, they, along with our experienced trainers, led a summer camp named “A Creative Journey” on which, besides the children who participated on our auditions, participated children without parental care, and children from the Children’s Village from Sremska Kamenica. This project finishes in 2015 when after numerous creative acting and dance workshops, the children from different partner countries in cooperation with artists and creative teams will make a closing play that will have its premiere in Budapest, after which it will be performed in all other partner countries.
The project is supported by the foreign program “Culture” of the European Commission.
